And probably better do a review thread again, if only so I can have 'em all in a handy place...

Comics Daily, Seb Patrick: "It was previously an excellent comic with something of a niche appeal, but I honestly think it’s hauled itself up to a point where it deserves to be talked about in the same breath as the likes of Scott Pilgrim as one of the best things the industry currently has to offer."

Sarah Jaffe, Newsarama:“Just when I think I can’t love this comic any more, Gillen and McKelvie set out to prove me wrong. Rue Britannia was fun to pick apart, and 2.1 was just a cotton-candy bite of pure bliss. but this one made me feel.”

Bryan Joel, IGN: "Even if you've never read a single issue of Phonogram before, pick this up. It's the epitome of a great comic experience and definitely worth every cent."

Hannibal Tabu, The Buy Pile, CBR: "The most subtly brilliant comic of the week, hands down"

Greg McElhatton, CBR: "If you haven't read "Phonogram: The Singles Club" yet, don't be afraid that you haven't read #1. It's just as easy to jump in here, and you'll get a full, interesting story. Just be warned that when it's all over, you'll probably want to hunt down #1 because you want more of the fun."

Things I like: "Phonogram is to music what Local was to cities. "

All About Comic Books: "A twenty-something guy goes to a club and hears a song that reminds him of a former girlfriend. That’s all that happens, but boy, is it well done — haunting, even — and that’s the point."

Paul O'Brien, If Destroyed Still True: "dovetails very cleverly"

Heh. Proves tricky to pull a positive quote out of Paul's positive capsule. I feel like an evil marketing man.

Kyle Garret, Line of Fire: "If you’re not reading Phonogram, go pick up the trade of the first series. Read it with an open mind. I promise you that you’ll come back for more and that you’ll enjoy the second series just as much."

Bryan Hollerbach, St Louis Review of Comic Books: "The second issue of Phonogram: The Singles Club (Image Comics, $3.50) has arrived to reinforce the suspicion that its creators, Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie, rank as the most electric, talented writer-artist team to enter comics in the last five years."

Some more negative ones today, though clearly I'm quoting the good bits.

Lee Newman, Broken Frontier: "Phonogram is still a book that feels like your own personal secret. It speaks to the reader on such a personal level that those who have been caught by its spell will continue to devour it. "

Bobsy, Mindless Ones: "Phonogram is still the toppermost of the poppermost pamphlet being published by a mainstream company at the moment. All things being equal, it’s as close to an inheritor to Deadline as we’re going to get, and it deserves your support."

Shawn Douglas: "This is without a doubt the best single comic I read in the last week, perhaps the last month. It is also the best single issue of Phonogram I’ve read."

Well, okay. Not all more negative.

Allyn Gibson: "Kieron Gillen, if you’re reading this? I’ve decided I owe you a beer. This issue was that good and that important and that meaningful. A beer only seems fair."

Miles, The Internet Sleeps Sunday: "More so than the first issue, "Wine and Bed and More..." will emotionally beat the shit out of you if you love music. As is right and just."

Johnny Bacardi, The Johnny Bacardi Show: "Took a while, but for the first time, this series- with this issue and its evocative look at how music, especially certain tunes, can recapture mood and summon back memories- finally clicked with me." A-
