Paul, why did you decide to change the Jack Staff logo?
(And there's no criticism implied there; I'm just wondering what the thinking was behind the change!) |

| Did Jack Staff #15 come out this week? Because my shop didn't get my copy if so. |

Yes, Jack Staff 15 is now available in the shops (or should be anyway)!
It's a couple of weeks later than planned, though to be honest, that was just a hold up at the printers for some reason. Issue 16 is at the printers now and should be out before the end of the month!

As for the logo, I just thought after 25 issues I'd try something a little bit different. Visually, the new logo is a bit more flexible than the original 'nineteen sixties marvel stle logo' - which basically had to be the same colours each time. The new logo can be used in different colours or even as a white outline form if required.
It's always a little risky changing logos - I do tend to regard a lot of the marvel comics logos of the 60's to be 'classic', Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four are two examples of logo's that have never been improved on in over 45 years.
The new Jack Staff works for me and no ones said anything about it one way or the other before now, so I was assuming people had just forgotten what the original looked like!
Feel free to comment...

| I'll be honest, I didn't even notice the logo change, apparently it changed with the Jack Staff Special. Doing a side-by-side comparison got to say both logos are about equal in my eyes. Both are bouncy and fun. So... thumbs up for the new logo if it works better for you Paul. |

Me too. I only noticed it with #15, although once I did, I realised that tit had been different for a while. I like it. I like the solid blockiness of the original logo, but this one's a bit more playful.
Am I being a bit too pretentious? |

I've resigned myself to the fact I'm never going to have the largest readership, but I've always comforted myself with the thought I've got the quality end - the smart ones, the appreciative, rarified, observant reader, those who understand the subtle nuance of storytelling...
I'm just fooling myself aren't I.

well, i can only speak for my "kane" reading experience (i´ve ordered the first "jack staff´" collection and hope it arrives soon!) - but i sure hope i match your criteria ... when it comes to reading and re-reading your books, and admiring the subtle art work, and still discovering something new after the seventh re-read ... i guess i´m in head over heels! |

Ah, you say that now, but then it all goes wrong, you'll start taking me for granted, you'll be looking at your watch and start saying things like "I thought the next issue was supposed to be out now..."
I'll start looking at other readers, you'll start eying up other comics...
It's all going to end up in tears. |

never. a decline in quality is the only reason for me to abandon a comic i like. i´ve just bought the third part of a trilogy i´ve loved for ages - the first part came out 17 years ago. how´s that for reader fidelity?
i must add though that since i´m not from the UK i´m more dependent on the collections, those are easier to get. and, if i may say so, since your stories are so rich and complex, i enjoy them more when i have a longer batch to read. (which is why you should continue "kane" in paperback form. whoops!) |

Ah, a valid question! *looks at watch* I thought the next issue was supposed to be out now...
I'd just like to take the opportunity to say that I've never looked at my watch for new Paul Grist material. Anything arriving in my hands is an unexpected surprise! I've grown acustomed to that over the past years of irregularity. Not expecting anything yields the best surprises when entering the B-Gevaar store in Brussels... |

Actually I'm looking at my watch too, issue 16 has been at the printers since the beginning of the month, and I thought it would have been out by now.
Some hold ups are just beyond anyones control. Maybe next week!
