Had a good time. Most of the gang was there.

They had set up an Image booth, on one side sat Erik Larsen with Joe Keatinge hawking Image trades, on another side sat Tony Moore and Jeremy Haun. The other two sides featured me and Latour next to Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick (with Laurenn McCubbin camping out much of the time). The fourth and final side featured the Lunas and Rick Remender (and Danni, sad because her English lads got beat in the World Cup). Can't beat that lineup, and I think everyone had lots of traffic and a pretty good time.

Shawn Crystal and his wonderful wife Stephanie put me up in Atlanta on Thursday and Sunday night, and provided airport shuttle service, so many, many thanks to them.

Anyway, it was a good time. I had fun hanging out with the above-mentioned people, as well as Ivan and Andy, Rick Spears and Rob G., Robbi Rodriguez and Russ Lowery, John Lucas, Greg Thompson and Jen Simmons, Andrew Robinson and Jim Royal, Mikey Freiheit, C.B. Cebulski, Jim McLauchlin, Marlin Shoop, Jim Demonakos, Paul Maybury, Dan Way, Johanna Draper Carlson, Joe Pruett, Ben Jones, and everyone else I chatted with, drank with, or passed in the hall.

Cons are fun.

Hey, Chris--sorry we never got around to that interview. We ended up leaving earlier on Sunday than I thought we would, and it just slipped through the cracks.

Great meeting you, though. You and your driver. Smile

You know Clay... the more I hear about it, the more I think I'll just stay at home forever. That Image line up is just too intimidating. I simply don't think I fit in anywhere in that whole mix.

So tell us, What was it like? Attendance wise? Weather? Any talk about Wizard? I know it was supposed to be a jim-dandy show with folks coming out of the woodwork in support - was there a "buzz" in the air?

Yeah, it was a great show, Jimmie. I know Tony thought it was the best show he's been to, and Tony always does great at cons. A casual, relaxed atmosphere, but a terrific turnout. Lots of friendly people buying lots of stuff (I sold more stuff in Charlotte than I ever have in San Diego), and enthusiastically so.

What was most gratifying was having people stop by just to tell you how much they loved this book or that book that you'd done. And there was a tremendous role call of creators, as well. You know how it is in comics. There are people you genuinely like and love to see, but you only get to see them at conventions, since everyone's so scattered. Seeing lots of those people was great.

And I didn't hear "Wizard" mentioned once, to be honest.

Well, I'm back too.
After sleep that almost resembled a coma, I'm sitting back at my drawing table getting ready to plunge back into work.
I've got to agree with Clay, that Heroes was a good show.
IN FACT, I'm going to second Tony's statement.
This was the best show I've EVER attended!
The fans were amazing, the sheer number of attending creators was unbelievable, and the show itself was top notch.
Shelton put on a DAMNED good show, and I'll be attending Heroes from now on!

thanks

jeremy

Well it was my hometown and my home show... so I'm uber pleased that everyone seemed to really love it. I'm glad you guys were able to experience something so close to me, if it wasn't for that show and Shelton's shop I probably wouldn't be drawing comics and maybe would have never experienced all the things that went along with that. Maybe I should hit him next time I see him Smile

Maybe I'll write a con report soon.

Okay any good Con thread needs photos! So here are a few, starting with the Saturday night bar hijinx! Photos courtesy of Kara Farfield (Soon to be Moore):

The Image gang gets bout it, bout it when it comes to the dice! 7-11 bitch!

They don't call him Andy "Mack" for nothing.... Danni Remender is a helpless fawn to this corn fed slice of country ham:

"Watch out McDonald! Thats, Remender's WIFE!" squeals Russ Lowery's fro!

"GARRR! WALK AWAY!":

Meanwhile on the other side of the bar, another love triangle is working out its tragic plot as I go totally gay for Shawn Crystal:

Clay Moore sees it, Clay Moore don't like it!

Shawn Crystal lets out the call of the Jungle bird and the Luna's and Clay arrive in time to save the day:

"Fine, Crystal. If I can't have you... I'll take Robbi Rodriguez' sweet sweet Mexican ground beef instead":

"Is you crazy!? Robbi ain't Taco Bell! You gots to pay for good Mexican, Latour!" squeals Mikey Freiheit's beard.

"Goddamn that Freiheit, for a twenty can I pour hot sauce on you too?."

Joe Keating don't like pimping if he ain't doin' it!

Clay tries to explain the high concept behind Yippsie the Trotting Horse to Larsen and Keating... THEY LOVE IT!

Kara Farafield finds Jesus:

And then Lucifer:

Rob G wonders if Rick Spears hat and head are molded together like a GI JOE toy:

The tag team of John Lucas and Tony Moore is so bad ass that even light is afraid of them:

Ivan Brandon hates the goddamned papparazzi!:

Jenn and Kara, No little boys want to take on these two ladies! The AGRO CRAG IS THEIRS!

Only the meade of GIANTS can satisfy Paul Maybury!:

Andy Macdonald and Greg Thompson try to form Voltron:

The magnificent Andrew Robinson rides again with Dusty Star for the Heroes auction:

Mikey Freiheit gives us the man of steal saving our own personal Jesus:

Jeremy Haun sad:

Freiheit, Haun and Moore start the partay early! This ain't no hotel room it's a dance floor!

"BLURDURKA!"

"What's that smell?"

"It's sizzling CHEST!"

"I... can't...move.... mesmerized by Haun meat..."

Andrew Robinson, he beats em off with a stick.... or does he!?

I thought Mike told you that he won't quit?

The happy "new" couple. Johnny Cash approved:

Bling! bling!

Even Rosario Dawson is down with THE VIKING SHAKE!

Well, we did have dinner together Friday night, Ivan.

That picture of me talking to Joe and Erik makes me think Larsen will probably start running when he sees me coming in hotel bars.
