INVINCIBLE #100 FLIES OFF SHELVES
Landmark issue gets second printing

It’s comic book industry common sense by now: the release of a monumental 100th issue written by Robert Kirkman is going to make a big splash. With THE WALKING DEAD #100, the result was the highest-selling comic book of 2012. And with INVINCIBLE #100, the result is a sell-out the same day the issue went on sale.

The 100th issue of the beloved superhero series created by Kirkman and artist Cory Walker will receive a second printing, landing in stores on February 27, 2013.

INVINCIBLE #100, the hotly-anticipated conclusion of the “The Death of Everyone” story arc, featured covers by series artist Ryan Ottley, Cory Walker, Image Comics partner Marc Silvestri, Bryan Hitch, Art Adams and THE WALKING DEAD artist Charlie Adlard.

In a four-star review at Comic Book Resources, Doug Zawisza wrote of the landmark issue “Invincible #100 is simply a straightforward comic book adventure that pushes a protagonist to the limits and steps back to observe the resulting excitement and adventure.”

READERS HOOKED ON PETER PANZERFAUST
Issue #8 of WWII re-imagining of J.M. Barrie classic gets reprinted

After stories appeared in USA Today and The Huffington Post about the Image/Shadowline comic PETER PANZERFAUST, many more people discovered what dedicated readers already knew: The World War II take on J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan by Kurtis J. Wiebe (GREEN WAKE, DEBRIS) and Tyler Jenkins is heartfelt, exciting, and well worth reading every month.

Now PETER PANZERFAUST #8, which marks the first appearance of the series’ Captain Hook — Kapitan Haken — is receiving a second printing after selling out. The second printing (DEC128222), featuring a new cover by Jenkins, will be in stores on February 27, 2013. It can be pre-ordered from comic book stores until February 4.

In PETER PANZERFAUST, Peter, the Lost Boys, and Wendy are members of the French Resistance, seeking to undermine the Nazi invasion. Throughout the series, Peter has been joined by the analogs for iconic Peter Pan characters, including the dog Nana and the brave resistance fighter Tiger Lily. Haken’s appearance on the scene — with hook hand and all — marks a turning point in the series and of Peter’s character arc.

In the interview at USA Today, Wiebe said of Peter and Hook: “They will never be ordinary men. Peter and Hook are connected by a type of destiny, a fate that falls on the shoulders of great men.”

IGN called PETER PANZERFAUST #8 the “strongest issue of Peter Panzerfaust yet” and commenting, “the storytelling here is impeccable.” In a review of #8, Multiversity Comics praised PETER PANZERFAUST as “a thoughtful, dark, heartening and terrifying adventure, as well as a unique twist on a mythology that many of us have grown up with.”

PETER PANZERFAUST #9 will be in stores on February 13. A trade paperback collection of the first five issues of the series, PETER PANZERFAUST: Volume One: THE GREAT ESCAPE is available now, and the second volume, HOOKED, collecting issues #6 -10, will be in stores in March.

HORROR AND SCIENCE SELL OUT
BEDLAM #3, NOWHERE MEN #1 & 3 get new printings

The past week saw a flurry of sell-outs for Image Comics, as BEDLAM #3 by Nick Spencer and Riley Rossmo, NOWHERE MEN #3 by Eric Stephenson and Nate Bellegarde, and the second printing of NOWHERE MEN #1 all sold out at the distributor level. The issues will be reprinted, with an in-store date of February 27, 2013.

Sales and reviews have remained strong through three issues of BEDLAM, a psychological thriller that blends murder mystery, horror, and a touch of the superheroic, written by Spencer (MORNING GLORIES) and drawn by Rossmo (GREEN WAKE, REBEL BLOOD, DEBRIS).

“A completely unique take on the world of crime and serial killers is quickly becoming a more meaningful and deep story…. [A]n intense tale of mayhem and murder…..”

-Bloody Disgusting

“Bedlam is intelligent, unflinching and beautiful to look at. It’s quality comic book writing and art and if you enjoy your stories with some edge, this one has enough to slice your head right off.”

-Nerds in Babeland

NOWHERE MEN’s look at the potential and limits of science has drawn praise not only for its compelling story and artwork but also its slick design by Fonografiks:

“This decades-spanning science-fiction epic stands out as one of the most promising debuts of Image’s phenomenal 2012, telling an immensely layered story full of big ideas and sharp artwork.”

-A.V. Club

Orders for the second printings of BEDLAM #3 (DEC128204) and NOWHERE MEN #3 (DEC128202) and the third printing of NOWHERE MEN #1 (DEC128205) are due in by February 4.
