sooooooo excited about D5.

Man we are all sooooooo excited about Dynamo 5.

It's got a great premise: the five illegitimate children of the world's greatest superhero join together to fill the void left after his death.

It's got glowing endorsements from superstar creators like Y the Last Man's Brian K Vaughn and INVINCIBLE's Ryan Ottley.

It's got killer teaser copy (imagine that deep raspy movie voiceover guy): THIS SPRING, ONE WILL FALL...AND FIVE WILL RISE.

And my man Mahmud Asrar is rocking the brushes! This dude is AWESOME!

Check out the review on Eye on Comics:

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE

Hey folks,
Y'know that Paul Jenkins guy? The one who's writing that wee independent title CIVIL WAR: FRONTLINE? Maybe you read that that little book, WOLVERINE: ORIGIN he wrote? Well Top Cow has a new podcasting series and Paul is batting first. He's talking about the new collected edition of his killer AGENCY series. We all know he has some great books over here at Image like the hilarious SIDEKICK as well as his run on the DARKNESS. He's got a-lot of great stories and this podcast isn't to be missed.

Here's the official word from the house of TOP COW:

Top Cow Productions has proudly launched into the world of podcasting with the inaugural Top Cow Podcast. Prolific writer Paul Jenkins (Civil War: Frontline, Wolverine: Origin) gives his fans his behind-the-scenes commentary on The Agency at: http://topcowproductions.libsyn.com/ . The Podcast is available now, free of charge.

The Podcast is perfectly timed to coincide with the release of The Agency trade paperback. Long out of print, the Top Cow classic with art by Kyle Hotz (The Hood) follows a team of freelance police in a dystopian future as they track a horrific serial killer known as “God's Man.” The Agency trade paperback is full color, 192 pages, and carries a $14.99 cover price. In addition to all six original issues of The Agency, bonus pages featuring character designs, layouts, and much more are included. The Agency trade paperback is available with Diamond order code - DEC061913, and the entire first issue is available to view for free at:
http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=93969.

“We're very excited to branch into new media with Podcasts, and Paul's an engaging speaker; a great guy to get us started,” said Top Cow President Matt Hawkins. “We'll be doing more in the future, but it's Paul who gets us started with a bang.”

“I'm truly delighted to see The Agency finally see print in a collected edition,” said writer Paul Jenkins. “And I'm truly disturbed by the depravity of comic readers, especially those who stand in line for two hours waiting for my signature. To those fans who brought copies of The Agency for me to sign, I salute you! To the rest of you: this is what you were missing.”

Top Cow's Podcasts will continue into the future with periodic audio news bites, behind-the-scenes information, interviews, and other exclusive audio content. Keep checking www.TopCow.com for more.

Hella - SHOCKED!

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, a young comic book artist named Jae Lee began work on his epic story Hellshock. Okay, maybe it wasn't THAT long, but I'm pretty sure it was close. When something is coming from the heart, it can take a long time to get in out onto paper. Sometimes a looooooooong time. Anyway, it's printed and en route to stores. I've seen it, held it in my hands and I can testify that is (in a high pitch sing-song tone) HOT!

It has all of Jae's gothic hallmarks: romantic imagery, haunting scenes and gallons of ink used in the execution. This book is so pretty, even folks folks whttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.file.gifho have never heard of Jae will scoop it up and slobber over it. This book was worth the wait.

Jae Lee cut is teeth on obscure independent titles like Uncanny X-Men. It's so nice to see him step into the spotlight with his own creation.

So (in a high pitch sing-song tone) HOT!

HELLSHOCK is in stores this week. Here's 5 page preview!

GEAR is full of inky awesome

One of the most exciting books coming out from Image this month is Doug TenNapel's GEAR. Everyone knows Doug because of he created the legendary video game EARTHWORM JIM. It was a sensation that somehow everyone remembers playing.

I lovelovelove his comics adn I am so proud that we publish his work. GEAR is a no holds barred comic book filled with cute cartoon animals and tons of inky violence. It's some of Doug's earlier work and you can feel that youthful coming off the page.

Doug's quote on the back of the book sums it up perfectly:
"This book contains my favorite things: giant robots, cats and cartoon characters taking gun-shots to the head."

This book is amazing.

GEAR is on stands January 17th.
Doug TenNapel was interviewed recently at Newsarama:

After the Cape

Shadowline Presents a Hero's Fall from Grace

How far can even a superhero fall?

Ethan Falls was the man who had everything: family, fame, success and super powers. More than just a costume, his cape was a proud symbol of everything he had become. Now, a crippling addiction has taken that and everything else away from him and he's spiraling out of control, towards a life of crime. Shadowline proudly presents Howard Wong and Marco Rudy's gripping tale of addiction and temptation in AFTER THE CAPE, a three-issue miniseries debuting this March from Image Comics.

"AFTER THE CAPE is a very personal story about the cost of success," explains writer Howard Wong. "Ethan Falls is faced with the temptations of taking the wrong road, and Marco and I are enjoying using the superhero tradition to tell a story about the harsh consequences we all could face, and how one man, who should be impervious to such dangers, succumbs to them."

"Marco's art is simply amazing," says Shadowline's Jim Valentino. "His high contrast film noir style is infused with painstakingly observed realism. There's an underlying optimism and sincerity to Marco's work. The artwork hits you right in the gut with the tragedy that Ethan's life has become."

A powerful mix of superhero action and real world drama, AFTER THE CAPE delivers an arresting vision of an extraordinary man pushed to the breaking point.

AFTER THE CAPE #1 (of 3) carries a cover price of $2.99 ships March 14 and is available through Diamond Previews (JAN071921).
