NIGHT TRIPPERS ARTIST MICAH FARRITOR

Micah Farritor, the artist for the NIGHT TRIPPERS GN (MAY 2006), is an amazing illustrator and I was really fortunate to work with him. One of the interesting things about his art is that it translates nicely from pencil to color. No inks necessary. Check this out:

Rosario Dawson's O.C.T. comes to Image!

NEW YORK - February 22, 2006 - Rosario Dawson, David Atchison and
Tony Shasteen announced today that their new comic book miniseries,
the OCCULT CRIMES TASKFORCE, will now be published through Image
Comics, starting this July!

"We are very excited about our new home. Image and the guys at 12 Gauge are helping us make the book the best it can possibly be. The interest Speakeasy Comics showed in publishing the "O.C.T." was greatly appreciated. However, due to recent changes in Speakeasy's direction, we didn't feel our book fit with them at this time," said Shasteen.

12 Gauge Comics President Keven Gardner added, "When we found out the "O.C.T." was looking for a home, we jumped at the chance to be involved. We're proud and honored to be a part of what promises to be an industry-expanding event."

Thanks to his long-standing association, Gardner brought the book to Image Comics, where it was accepted to appear in the July catalog. Gardner added, "Releasing this book in July works out perfectly, as Rosario will be making convention appearances with us to help promote the book. Look for announcements on that front very soon."

Dawson had this to say: "I'm excited about this adventure we're about to take, and I'm really excited about meeting all the comic fans. I'm also excited to be working on a project that's fun, but not necessarily a film. This is a completely different genre, but is no less interesting."

The Occult Crimes Taskforce follows the exploits of rookie Detective Sophia Ortiz (modeled after Rosario Dawson), who is recruited into the ranks of a covert police investigation unit established to monitor and control supernatural activity in the Manhattan Underground. The series is co-created by Rosario Dawson, written by David Atchison and illustrated by Tony Shasteen.

Big change in direction for SoR. We chose to cut a flashback story and tell it later. This issue begins the insanity we've been hinting at since issue #5.

Crosland Signing at Image's WonderCon Booth!

Howdy, folks!

If any of you are gonna be in the Bay Area this weekend, I'll be making an appearance at WonderCon in San Francisco. Both Friday (2:30 -3:30pm) and Saturday (2-3pm) you'll be able to find me -- pen or beer or BOTH in hand -- at the Image Comics booth (#610).

Wow... I really like putting pertinent info in parentheses.

Anyway, for those two precious hours, I'll be signing books, selling wares, and showing off new work (including original pages from my upcoming spots in The Belle & Sebastian Anthology and an 8-page NYC Mech short). Speaking of, below are some sneak peaks at the goods from both of those books. Enjoy the upper-body nudity and prelude to samurai violence!

See you at the show!

Hysteria and Umbra

Hey all,

As you may have heard, I'm running a back up story in the first four issues of Hysteria. The short is called "Destruction Junction", and features the FIRST appearance of Bruce, and the Gangs.

Here's a sneak peek at the first 3 pages-

Destruction Junction is a 24 page story, and will be broken up into 6 page chunks over the course of the first four issues of Hysteria. The story originally ran online at Moderntale's site, and then in Vol. 1 of Hysteria.

Also, you'll be hearing more about another book I have coming out through Image. A mini-series called Umbra. I'll be a 3 parter with each issuing weighing in at about 40 pages, and is written by TMNT writer Steve Murphy . Check back later for more details.

Best,
Mike

PS - Remember to ask your local shop for Hysteria. Issues 1 and 2 are available for pre-order now! Thanks!
