THE SWORD UNSHEATHED!
Luna Brothers return in October!
The Luna Brothers, creators behind GIRLS and ULTRA, and artists of Marvel's SPIDER-WOMAN, return this October with an all-new modern-day fantasy series, THE SWORD.
"Like our previous titles, THE SWORD weaves the supernatural and fantastic into our everyday world," explained writer Joshua Luna. "But unlike those books, THE SWORD focuses on revenge and power."
Dara, the series' protagonist, is a young woman whose life is destroyed by powerful strangers who are unlike anything she has ever imagined. Just when things are at their worst she discovers a unique sword with the power to take her revenge. Combining elements of Kill Bill, Highlander and Blade of the Immortal with the patented Luna Brothers twist, THE SWORD will be a must read for any fan of the action, drama, or fantasy genres.
"We came up with THE SWORD two years ago," said artist Jonathan Luna. "Every now and then it would pop into our conversations and never get out of our heads, so we knew this was a story that we had to tell."
"Jonathan and Joshua embody everything that Image Comics is about," added Image Comics' Publisher, Erik Larsen. "We found them in a blind submission and through their work with us they've become industry superstars. I'm ecstatic to read their newest series."
THE SWORD #1 (AUG071971), a 32-page comic with a cover price of $2.99, will be available for order in the August issue of Previews and will go on sale in October 17.

FEAR THE CRAWL SPACE!
Kieron Dwyer, Rick Remender and Tony Moore return to horror comics!
Rick Remender and Kieron Dwyer return to the genre they helped reinvent with their all-new, full color ongoing horror series, CRAWL SPACE.
"CRAWL SPACE is a series of horror stories Kieron and I have been cooking up for years. Like an expanded Tales From the Crypt where each tale is given many issues to develop -- it's not an anthology," explains Remender, the series' writer. "Since completing SEA OF RED, Kieron and I have been cooking up new horror stories together and over the next few years, they'll all be wedged out of the CRAWL SPACE and into the horrible light of day."
CRAWL SPACE's first arc, the four-issue "XXXombies," promises to be the last word in the zombiesploitation with its twisted tale of sex stars, cannibalism and the '70s. Our story's focus is a sleazy producer who has gathered a bevy of adult stars for a weekend film shoot. When they emerge, they discover a zombie plague has overrun a now-quarantied Los Angeles. The results are unlike any previous tale of the undead, especially with Rick and Kieron's special guest collaborator - Tony Moore, the original artist of THE WALKING DEAD.
"Tony, Rick and I have been talking about doing an end-all zombie tale together for years. To do it exactly how we think it should be done before walking away from the genre for good," adds Dwyer, who helped resurrect the zombie craze with his miniseries, REMAINS. "Tony's cover work is absolutely disgusting. It's perfect."
Moore is along to co-plot as well as contribute covers to the arc. Future stories will also be done by the Remender/Dwyer team, but who knows who else we'll find lurking in the CRAWL SPACE?
CRAWL SPACE #1 (AUG071979) is in stores October 24th with a cover price of $2.99. In addition, Rick Remender will be at the San Diego Comic Con signing 100 limited edition XXXOMBIES movie posters at the Image Comics Booth (#2729) on Saturday between 2-3 PM.

DYNAMO BOUND!
Dynamo 5's first arc collected this October!
Following DYNAMO 5's multiple sellouts, Image Comics and creators Jay Faerber and Mahmud A. Asrar have announced the first DYNAMO 5 collection will be a massive 176-page trade paperback with the low introductory price of $9.99.
"With issue four's sell-out and the series' rising orders, it's obvious there's a high demand for the trade paperback," said Faerber. "We decided to go with a special low price, as I want as many eyes to see this as possible, especially with the new arc kicking off the same day!"
The trade, collecting DYNAMO 5's first seven issues, begins with the death of the world's greatest hero, Captain Dynamo, and his enemies' subsequent onslaught upon on his unprotected city. With no one to stand against them, his widow locates his five illegitimate children, each of whom have inherited one of their father's super-powers. Can these total strangers come to terms with their powers, their father's legacy and each other as total chaos erupts?
"DYNAMO 5 has been a tremendous success thus far," adds Eric Stephenson, Executive Director of Image Comics. "Between the issues selling out and the ecstatic reviews it's obvious the series' reception is overwhelmingly positive. We don't doubt that the trade will get new readers onboard!"
DYNAMO 5, Vol. 1: POST-NUCLEAR FAMILY (AUG071992) will be available for order in the August issue of Diamond Previews and will go on sale October 3 alongside DYNAMO 5 #8 (AUG072006) .

WOLFMAN ISSUE TWO ASTOUNDS FANDOM!
Astounding Wolf-Man #2 is in demand!
Over the last year Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard have put a lot of work into both developing and promoting their new title, The Astounding Wolf-Man, and if the book's release proves anything - it's a hit.
Retailers received double their order - free of charge - and reports are coming in that it may not be enough. The demand created by the first issue's Free Comic Book Day presence as well as Kirkman's whirlwind five city signing tour has proven to be send copies flying off the shelves.
"Retailers and fans alike have been filling my inbox with praise for the second issue," Kirkman exclaimed. "It's always nerve wracking to launch a new title, but it looks like everyone really digs it. I couldn't be happier. I'm ecstatic that the double shipment has worked out as well as it has"
"It's really thrilling to have so many people react so positively to the book," added Howard. "Robert and I have been working on promoting the book intensely over the last year or so. Seeing it pay off so highly means a lot."
The Astounding Wolf-Man #1 (MAY071844) and #2 (MAY071843) are available in finer comic shops while supplies last.

THE FOUNDERS REUNITE!
Image Comics Founders Assemble For First Panel Ever!
he original seven founding members of Image Comics will appear together at Comicon International: San Diego on Friday, July 27, from 10:30-11:30am in Room 5AB, at the "Image Founders Panel." The panel will be hosted by George Khoury (author of TwoMorrows Publishing's new book "Image Comics: The Road to Independence," available at www.twomorrows.com).
In 1992, seven artists shook the foundation of the comic book industry when they left their top-selling Marvel Comic titles to jointly form a new company named Image Comics. With no certainty of success, they formed a home that would allow themselves and other artists the opportunity to tell their stories without any censorship or editorial restraints. Even more importantly, Image would finally give creators full ownership of their properties. In an industry that began with artists working in sweatshop-like conditions, Image remains a living beacon for any creator that dares to dream.
Appearing at the panel will be Erik Larsen, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Todd McFarlane, Whilce Portacio, Marc Silvestri, and Jim Valentino. This will be the first time that the original seven founding members of Image Comics have ever appeared on a panel together.
Join the conversation as the Image founders explore the past, present and future of Image and the comics industry. The hall has a maximum seating capacity of 500, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

LAZARUS RISES!
All new series from REX MUNDI artist Juan Ferreyra to debut in October!
Juan Ferreyra returns to Image Comics' Shadowline this October with LAZARUS, a full color mystery mini-series with an undeadly twist.
"I'm really happy to be back at Image," Ferreyra said. "My career started by working with Kristen Simon, the editor at Shadowline, on Small Gods, so it's a bit like coming home. To make it even more of a family affair, I created LAZARUS with my long-time friend, co-writer Diego Cortes. These two factors make LAZARUS the most personal work I've put out."
James Lazarus, the titular protagonist, is plagued by dreams of his death night after night. These dreams turn out to be far from fantasy as James discovers he's truly immortal during an attempt on his life. This puts him on an urgent search to figure out who is responsible for attacking him and why. The answers don't come easy. As James learns, immortality can be quite painful.
"LAZARUS may be the best work I've seen from Juan," Jim Valentino, President of Shadowline, adds. "I've had my eye on him since he came on the scene, so to be able to publish the first work that's wholly his own is a real treat. In addition, the direction he's taken his art in this series is bound to turn a lot of heads."
LAZARUS will hit stands October 17th with a cover price of $3.50.

BRAWL FOR IT ALL!
Dean Haspiel and Michel Fiffe's creature romance double feature comes to comic shops!
ACT-I-VATE alumni Dean Haspiel and Michel Fiffe bring their genre-bending Webcomics to the printed page in a black & white, three-issue creature romance double feature, entitled BRAWL, this October.
"While "Immortal," my half of BRAWL, made its debut online at ACT-I-VATE, I always intended it to get in print," explains Haspiel, the critically acclaimed artist behind Harvey Pekar's THE QUITTER. "I knew Michel felt the same way about his psychedelic horror story, "Panorama," so the collaboration was a must."
Both halves of BRAWL are completely different as far as content, but that's exactly what the cartoonist pair intended.
"Dean and I are aiming for a fusion of LOVE & ROCKETS and GRINDHOUSE," adds Fiffe. "A two man anthology that strives to warp and evolve the comic book reading experience."
"Immortal" features Haspiel's anti-hero, Billy Dogma, in a hardboiled romance gone cosmic, while Fiffe's "Panorama" focuses on a teenage runaway suffering from his disturbing new found powers.
Fans of the digital strips are not the only ones thrilled to see the series make its way to a wider audience. Creators from throughout the comic book industry have heaped their praise on the pair's work.
Warren Ellis, creator of FELL proclaimed, "I honestly think that Dean Haspiel is the heir to Kirby."
While Nick Bertozzi, the cartoonist behind THE SALON, raved, "Steve Ditko and David Cronenberg had a child and his name is Michel Fiffe."
You can read more on IMMORTAL and PANORAMA through the ACT-I-VATE website, www.act-i-vate.com. BRAWL #1 (of 3) will be available in stores October 10th.

RETURN TO THE BELLY OF THE BEAST!
Gutsville #1 goes back to press!
Due to the overwhelming demand, Frazer Irving and Simon Spurrier's sold out GUTSVILLE #1 will return to stands with an all-new cover.
"Simon and I are quite proud of the work, so such a response is highly appreciated," said Irving. "The series is completely different than anything I've ever undertaken, and it's thrilling to know our little experiment was a success."
GUTSVILLE takes place one hundred and fifty years after the ocean liner HMS Daphne was swallowed at sea, with its passengers' descendants clinging to life in the titular subterranean city. A Puritan-like society is shattered when revolutionaries, sadistic priests and a psychotic killer clash. Their continued existence relies on one scared RatCatcher and the success of his escape.
"We knew there would be a lot of attention based off Frazer's recent work on SEVEN SOLDIERS and SILENT WAR," Image Comics Executive Director Eric Stephenson added. "Both Frazer and Simon are amazing talents, and we want to make sure retailers are able to satisfy demand as word continues to spread about this unique series."
GUTSVILLE #1 2ND PRINTING (MAY078270) will arrive on stands July 25th.
