SAVAGE DRAGON #137 AND PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA RETURNS TO PRESS FOR A FOURTH AND FINAL TIME!
Savage Dragon #137's Barack Obama Presidential Endorsement Returns Fourth and Final Printing In A Special Commemorative Edition!
Despite three sold out printings, recent renewed demand for SAVAGE DRAGON's nomination of President Barack Obama has resulted in a fourth and final commemorative edition!
"While we sold out some time ago, we've been receiving an awful lot of letters from fans and retailers alike demanding another printing," Erik Larsen said. "This fourth - and definitely final, I might add - printing commemorates the very first time a superhero has openly nominated a real-life candidate for Presidential office. It's been flattering to receive such attention and I hope everyone who's bought a copy sticks around for the rest of the series, especially #145's relaunch!"
When originally announced, SAVAGE DRAGON's nomination took the press by storm, being the first comic to be featured so highly for its Barack Obama appearance, with stories ranging from The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Yahoo!, Radar Magazine and comic mainstays like Comic Book Resources, Newsarama and iFanboy. The issue featured both a cover and interior endorsement of the then Democratic candidate and is followed up by February's SAVAGE DRAGON #145, the new beginning for the series in which Dragon returns to the Chicago police force and Chicago's other favorite adopted son, President Barack Obama, is there to greet him!
SAVAGE DRAGON #137 FOURTH PRINTING, a 32-page full color comic book for $3.50, will be in stores to coincide with SAVAGE DRAGON #145 (Obama Cover: DEC082233 & Regular Cover: DEC082232 ) on February, 25th, 2009.

SHADOWLINE BRINGS WEB COMIC SENSATION PLATINUM GRIT TO PRINT!
Illustrator/writer Trudy Cooper and co-writer Danny Murphy release their hilarious sci-fi web comic through Shadowline!
For years, web comics fans the world over have thrilled to Trudy Cooper and Danny Murphy's science fiction romp, PLATINUM GRIT, and now Image Comics' Shadowline brings it to print!
"PLATINUM GRIT being published by Shadowline is a dream come true for me," Shadowline Editor Kristen Simon said. "I've been a fan of the web comic for many years now and was thrilled when we were able to bring it over to Shadowline’s website as well. Publisher Jim Valentino enjoyed it so much he agreed we needed to print the collections! Fellow fans of PLATINUM GRIT are going to be very happy with this edition."
PLATINUM GRIT VOL. 1 collects the first five chapters of the hit web comics series, in which the fearless Nils and the timid-but-still-surprisingly-together Jeremy take on the Zodiac (they win), Jer's insane Scottish relatives (they sort of win) a 1940s private dick (they draw when poor light stops play) and two sets of alien matchmakers (they... almost).
PLATINUM GRIT VOL. 1 (JAN092411), a 184-page B&W tradepaperback for $14.99, will be in-stores March 11th, 2009.

COMIC BOOK RESOURCES ANNOUNCES PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA'S ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT YOUNGBLOOD!
President Barack Obama to set up the all-new Youngblood this February!
Yesterday morning Comic Book Resources broke the news President Barack Obama will make his first major superhero-related initiative public during a six-page back-up story written and illustrated by comic superstar Rob Liefeld in February's YOUNGBLOOD #8!
"Obama re-instating the YOUNGBLOOD program with his picks is a natural, with SAVAGE DRAGON having featured Obama already," Liefeld told CBR. "And with YOUNGBLOOD having featured George H. Bush in its past as well as a Saddam Hussein styled guy and YOUNGBLOOD featured alongside Dan Quayle in WILDC.A.Ts and Bill Clinton in SUPREME, Image has a long history of involving presidential figures!"
The Liefeld penned six-page back-up story will see America's 44th President begin his term by selecting the next line-up of YOUNGBLOOD to protect the country after the team's radical changes set forth in Joe Casey and Derec Donovan's fan-favorite run. This leads into May's YOUNGBLOOD #9, in which Liefeld returns to the book full-time and President Obama comes into play as the White House comes under siege.
YOUNGBLOOD #8 (JUL082216), a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores February 2009.

NEWSARAMA DEBUTS IMAGE'S NEW CRIME BOOK FOR THE 9TH CENTURY, VIKING!
VIKING teaser makes first appearance on Newsarama!
Yesterday afternoon comic book news mega-site Newsarama debuted the very first teaser from the upcoming Image Comics crime book for the 9th century written by SECRET INVASION: HOME INVASION and THE CROSS BRONX's Ivan Brandon and illustrated by Marvel Comics rising star painter Nic Klein, VIKING!
"VIKING is everything I love about crime fiction filtered through one of the most violent and fascinating periods of human history," writer Ivan Brandon said. "It's been in the works for so long at this point that I'm overwhelmed to finally get to show it to people. The overwhelmingly positive response to the teaser alone has Nic and I humbled."
While the larger details behind VIKING are still closely guarded, Brandon and series artist Nic Klein promise one of the most brutal crime tales to hit stands, as the best of the genre mashes up with an incredibly dark century for humanity. An interview expanding on the series will shortly follow on Newsarama.
"VIKING is one of the coolest series we're debuting this year," said Image Publisher ericstephenson. "I've always admired Ivan's commitment to taking chances and doing comics that stand apart from everything else on the racks, and the more we've talked about what he has planned for VIKING, the more excited I've become. From the story concept to the execution of the artwork to the format – Ivan's really going for it with this one!"
VIKING #1, a 24-page full comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores April 1st, 2009.

It's easy to say you're a big fan, but PROOF creators Alex Grecian and Riley Rossmo give you the chance to show it with the upcoming Prove You're A PROOF Freak Contest!

The top ten entries will be published in PROOF, with the second runner up receiving a copy of PROOF #1 signed by Grecian and the first runner up receiving an original sketch by Rossmo. The Grand Prize winner will be drawn into PROOF as a Victorian-era circus freak, created using their name and likeness, and will receive a page of art from the issue they appear in! In addition, those entries done in conjunction with their local comic book shop will also award their store with a signed copy of PROOF #1 and an original page of PROOF art!
